Jakarta (ANTARA) - Tyre manufacturer Michelin has released the Michelin Primacy 5 Energy and Michelin Pilot Sport 5 Energy, two new summer tyre products that can be used for a variety of electric vehicles. According to a Carscoops report on Wednesday (1/4), the Primacy 5 Energy, which has an A rating for rolling resistance, is suitable for drivers seeking efficiency. Michelin claims that when fitted on electric vehicles, the tyre can increase range by up to 10%, adding up to 70 km. For vehicles with internal combustion engines, the French company’s claim is that it can improve fuel efficiency by up to 6% or 0.3 litres per 100 km. In durability tests on the VW ID.3, the new tyre product is claimed to outperform the Bridgestone Turanza 6, Continental PremiumContact 7, Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance 2, and Pirelli Cinturato P7C3. The braking distance for vehicles using the Primacy 5 Energy can improve by up to 8%, both when the tyres are new and when the tread is down to 2 mm. Functional elastomer, new resin, and an updated tread design, according to the company, support the performance improvements of the Primacy 5 Energy, which is available in 33 sizes from 16 inches to 19 inches. The tyre product used on the record-breaking Mercedes-AMG GT XX concept is supported by a new Energy Passive compound on the shoulders to reduce rolling resistance. In tests on the Tesla Model Y, this tyre demonstrated better braking performance in both wet and dry conditions compared to the Hankook iON Evo SUV and Pirelli P Zero E, and outperformed both in durability.
