Michael Bambang Hartono to be Buried in Rembang

The family plans to hold Michael Bambang Hartono’s funeral at the family cemetery in Godo, Rembang Regency, Central Java, on Wednesday, 25 March 2026. Corporate Communications Manager of PT Djarum, Budi Darmawan, stated that the body will first be flown from Singapore to Jakarta on Friday, 20 March 2026. “From 20-22 March, it will stop at the Grand Heaven Funeral Home in Jakarta,” Budi said in a written statement on Thursday, 19 March 2026. Previously, Bambang breathed his last at 1:15 PM Singapore time. The owner of the Djarum business died at the age of 86. Budi Darmawan said that after Jakarta, the body will stop again at GOR Jati in Kudus. “Note that this may change at any time,” he stated. Michael Bambang Hartono is the son of Oei Wie Gwan, the owner of the Djarum clove cigarette company in Kudus, Central Java. He also has a sibling named Robert Budi Hartono, both of whom rank among Indonesia’s richest people. Besides the cigarette company, their business holdings include banking, namely PT Bank Central Asia Tbk, and PT Global Digital Niaga Tbk (Blibli), controlled through PT Dwimuria Investama Andalan. Djarum is also renowned for nurturing athletes and sports facilities, as well as badminton tournaments in Indonesia.
