JAKARTA – A simple intention to promote a business through influencer endorsement instead turned into controversy.

In Karangbahagia, Bekasi Regency, Anggi Pamungkas, a 26-year-old entrepreneur running a mi ayam and bakso business, claims she was wronged following a promotional collaboration with an influencer with the initials PS.

Her story emerged after she posted about it on Threads. The post went viral and sparked public attention.

When her new business opened, Anggi wanted to reach more customers. She selected an influencer who appeared to have many followers in the Cikarang area and surroundings.

“The influencer had many followers around here. So I wanted people in this area to know there’s a new mi ayam bakso shop,” Anggi explained.

The initial quoted rate reached Rp 15 million. Anggi was shocked. After negotiations, the figure dropped to Rp 5 million, then Rp 3 million.

However, Anggi’s budget was only Rp 1 million.

“I already told them my budget was Rp 1 million, and we couldn’t afford anything more,” she stated.

An agreement was reached. The influencer was scheduled to arrive on 29 January 2026, coinciding with the shop’s opening day.

On that day, the video recording process took place. Anggi waited for the promotional post on TikTok, as promised.

“The influencer said they could do it. They said it would be for TikTok content,” Anggi said.

However, that evening, different content appeared instead.
