MGPA Commits to Enhancing Quality of Mandalika Racing Series

The Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) has affirmed its commitment to continuously improving the quality of the Pertamina Mandalika Racing Series (MRS) national sportbike championship at the Mandalika Circuit, West Nusa Tenggara. “We at MGPA, in cooperation with PRIDE Motorsport and IMI, are committed to continuously improving the quality of the Pertamina Mandalika Racing Series, including through the implementation of regulations that refer to FIM (Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme) rules,” said Mandalika Racing Series 2026 Chief Organiser Arif Syahbani in Mandalika on Saturday. Arif explained that several new rules were applied in the second round to enhance the quality of racing, including a penalty of two long lap penalties for riders who commit a jump start. Furthermore, if a participant fails to record a time during qualification due to technical problems with their motorcycle, the participant is still allowed to race by starting from the pit exit after notifying the Race Direction. “The regulatory changes according to FIM standards are being implemented gradually,” Arif stated. He said that with these FIM standard regulations, it is hoped that when they participate in international level championships, they will already be able to adapt. “In addition to understanding racing regulations, we certainly hope that the Pertamina Mandalika Racing Series will continue to produce a regeneration of high-achieving racers up to the world level, especially from the Junior class,” he said. Beyond racing regulations, MGPA, PRIDE Motorsport and IMI continue to promote the importance of integrating environmentally friendly principles and social responsibility into the world of motorsport.
