MGPA: 2026 Mandalika Formula Indonesia Event to Scout Young Drivers
The Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) stated that the Formula Indonesia 2026 event at the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit, located in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (KEK) in West Nusa Tenggara, is being held to scout young Indonesian racing drivers. “This Formula Indonesia event at the Mandalika Circuit is for nurturing Indonesian racers towards future international racing events,” said MGPA President Director Ananda Mikola during a cooperation signing ceremony with Formula Indonesia CEO Michael Indradjaja in Mandalika on Sunday. He explained that the Formula Indonesia or Formula 4 racing event at the Mandalika Circuit will be held in two series, in August and October 2026. Through this activity, it is hoped that young Indonesian drivers, particularly in four-wheel racing, will emerge and be able to compete at the international level. “This event is part of the motorsport development ecosystem at the Mandalika Circuit,” he said. He noted that the Mandalika Circuit is not only used for two-wheel racing events like MotoGP, but can also be utilised for car racing events, including Formula Indonesia. Meanwhile, Formula Indonesia CEO Michael Indradjaja, who was appointed by Ligier, said the event is expected to produce new young Indonesian racing talent. “This is for driver development,” he said. He added that the cooperation is expected to have a positive impact on tourism growth in West Nusa Tenggara and particularly in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (KEK). “There are 10 cars prepared for this event. This Formula Indonesia race event will be held in August and October 2026,” he said.
