MGI Bus Driver Swerves into Cipularang Toll Barrier to Avoid Multi-Vehicle Pile-Up
A public transport bus operated by MGI was involved in a single-vehicle accident on the Cipularang Toll Road at KM 100.700 B on Saturday morning (13/6/2026). Fortunately, there were no fatalities or injuries in the incident on the fast lane.
The head of the Cipularang PJR Induk, Kompol Joko Prihantono, stated that the single-vehicle accident involving the MGI bus serving the Bandung-Cileungsi route occurred at around 08:35 WIB. The location and time of the accident were close to an earlier incident involving two lorries that resulted in the death of one driver at KM 100.800 of the Cipularang Toll Road.
“The incident for this MGI bus was at 08:35 WIB. There were zero casualties; the passengers and bus crew are safe,” Joko said when confirmed.
The accident began when the MGI bus with registration number D-7806-AP, driven by Dian Farid (43), was travelling from Bandung towards Jakarta with a destination of Cileungsi. Upon arriving at the scene, the driver attempted to avoid a vehicle travelling in front of him.
“The vehicle was coming from Bandung heading to Jakarta, travelling in lane 1. Upon arriving at the scene, according to the driver’s account, the vehicle in front of him reduced speed,” Joko said.
However, the MGI bus instead struck the outer road barrier, ricocheted, and then hit the central reservation of the Cipularang Toll Road. Joko confirmed there were no casualties, although the bus sustained severe damage to its front section.
“The driver swerved to the left, hitting the outer barrier, then the vehicle bounced to the right, hitting the central reservation and coming to a stop on top of the central reservation facing north, skewed east. The vehicle stood upright on the inner median facing north, skewed east,” Joko explained.
He confirmed that traffic flow on the Cipularang Toll Road section had returned to normal as the MGI bus involved in the single-vehicle accident had been successfully evacuated by a recovery vehicle from Jatiluhur, Purwakarta Regency, West Java.
