MG Showcases New Hybrid Technology in ZS Hybrid+, Priced from Rp299.9 Million
MG Motor Indonesia is positioning its new Hybrid+ technology as a key differentiator in the ZS Hybrid+ SUV, offering a combination of fuel efficiency, performance, and quietness it claims is rarely found in conventional hybrid systems. Senior Product Director of SAIC Motors, Leo Liu, stated that most current hybrid vehicles focus primarily on fuel economy but still compromise on power delivery and driving comfort. “Conventional hybrids generally only solve the efficiency problem. They save fuel, but do not address power delivery and noise levels,” Leo said during the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026 in Tangerang on Thursday. He explained that the SAIC-owned brand developed the latest-generation Hybrid+ system to eliminate these weaknesses, aiming to build a revolutionary hybrid that is efficient, powerful, and as silent as an electric vehicle. The system in the MG ZS Hybrid+ is engineered to deliver high performance without sacrificing fuel consumption. On the safety front, the SUV is equipped with 15 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features, seven airbags, and has achieved a five-star safety rating from ANCAP. For comfort, it offers a spacious cabin with storage designed to support daily mobility. Head of Marketing at MG Motor Indonesia, Harry Kurniawan, added that the technology was developed to provide a more balanced driving experience compared to typical hybrid systems. “The doctrine so far has been that when you start a hybrid, the emphasis is only on efficiency, but power has been an issue. With this MG technology, we are not only looking at fuel efficiency but also a balance with power, and we also understand that mechanically the noise level needs to be addressed. So, what MG offers is not just efficiency, but also power and quietness,” Harry said. The MG ZS Hybrid+ is marketed in Indonesia with prices starting from Rp329.9 million for the Ignite variant and Rp359.9 million for the Magnify variant. During the launch period at GIIAS 2026, MG is offering special prices of Rp299.9 million and Rp329.9 million respectively for the first 1,000 customers.
