MG Secures 708 SPKs at IIMS 2026, MG S5 EV Emerges as Biggest Contributor

Jakarta – The Indonesia International Motor Show 2026 (IIMS 2026), held last month, was a significant milestone for Morris Garages (MG) Motor Indonesia. During the annual automotive exhibition at Kemayoran, MG recorded a total of 708 Surat Pemesanan Kendaraan (SPK) — vehicle booking orders. Of all these orders, the standout was their new electric SUV, the MG S5 EV. The model posted 579 SPK, about 80% of MG’s total orders during the show. Since its debut on the first day of IIMS 2026, the electric SUV quickly became one of the most talked-about models at MG’s booth. Market response was also reflected in the awards won by the car. At the end of the exhibition, the MG S5 EV was named Favorite Indonesian Premiere Launch at IIMS 2026. The award is typically given to a model whose debut attracts significant attention from show visitors. MG Motor Indonesia CEO Jason Huang said the achievement marks a positive start for MG’s 2026 journey. He noted that visitors’ responses to MG’s electric vehicle lineup indicate that the Indonesian market is becoming more receptive to electric vehicle technology. “We are committed to continuing to deliver innovation and the best service to provide greater value for every MG customer in Indonesia,” Huang said in a statement. In terms of concept, the MG S5 EV is positioned as a family electric SUV. The car was designed with an approach emphasising a balance between modern design, spacious cabin, and comprehensive safety features. MG is also aiming to deliver a driving character that is comfortable yet responsive for daily use. In addition to this model, MG’s other electric vehicle lines also contributed to the orders during the show. These include the MG4 EV hatchback, the MG ZS EV SUV, and the MG Cyberster electric roadster, which stood out as an iconic model at MG’s booth. For the Indonesian market, the MG S5 EV is offered from Rp333.9 million (OTR Jakarta) for the Ignite variant and Rp355.9 million (OTR Jakarta) for the Magnify variant. Purchasing this car also comes with several after-sales supports, such as a 6-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty, an 8-year or 160,000 km battery warranty, 4 years of free servicing, and a 3-year i-SMART data package. The Magnify variant adds leather seats, six-way power-adjustable seats, and front-seat ventilation.
