MG S5 EV Dominates 80 Per Cent of Orders at IIMS 2026

JAKARTA – MG Motor Indonesia recorded positive results during the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2026, as the manufacturer successfully accumulated 708 vehicle booking letters (SPK).

Chief Executive Officer of MG Motor Indonesia, Jason Huang, stated that this achievement represented an encouraging milestone for the company at the beginning of the year.

According to him, the majority of bookings came from electric vehicles showcased by MG throughout the exhibition, including the MG S5 EV, MG4 EV, MG ZS EV, and MG Cyberster.

Among the total, the latest model MG S5 EV became the largest contributor. This electric SUV recorded 579 SPKs, or approximately 80 per cent of all MG bookings during IIMS 2026.

Jason noted that visitor enthusiasm for the model was also evident from the significant number of test drive requests.

“We are delighted to see the positive reception towards our latest model, the MG S5 EV. During IIMS 2026, we received 579 orders and a significant number of test drives for our newest electric SUV,” he said.

Meanwhile, Head of Marketing at MG Motor Indonesia, Harry Kurniawan, stated that currently the S5 EV’s contribution to MG’s overall sales stood at approximately 40 per cent because the model was still in its early production phase.

“Since the S5 EV is still in production, we are still waiting. Looking ahead, given consumer enthusiasm, this seems destined to become our backbone,” Harry said.

The vehicle uses a 49 kWh battery capable of covering a distance of up to 415 kilometres based on NEDC testing and supports fast charging from 10 to 80 per cent in approximately 24 minutes.

In the Indonesian market, the MG S5 EV is offered in several variants with prices ranging from IDR 357.9 million to IDR 374.9 million (on-the-road Jakarta). For the first 1,500 consumers, MG is offering an introductory price starting from IDR 333.9 million.
