MG Prepares New Models for Indonesia This Year, Leaks Revealed
JAKARTA – MG Motor Indonesia has confirmed it will introduce several new models to the domestic market throughout this year. This step is part of the company’s strategy to expand its product portfolio whilst maintaining positive momentum following the launch of the MG S5 EV at the beginning of the year through the Indonesia International Motor Show 2026 (IIMS 2026).
“At the beginning of this year we introduced the MG S5 EV. Looking at consumer enthusiasm, the MG brand is starting to improve, so we will introduce several other models,” said Head of Marketing MG Motor Indonesia, Harry Kurniawan in Jakarta, Tuesday (10/3/2026).
Harry emphasised that MG’s product strategy in Indonesia will not focus solely on pure electric vehicles or battery electric vehicles (BEVs). The manufacturer is also preparing models with various powertrain technology options.
“Certainly, we will not focus only on the BEV segment. Of course there will be multi-powertrain options, including hybrid,” he said.
Regarding the vehicle segments to be introduced, Harry mentioned that MG is preparing several models from different platforms, ranging from SUVs to hatchbacks. However, the seven-seater vehicle segment is still under market review.
In addition to preparing new models, MG is also planning to expand the MG S5 EV line with the Magnify Next variant scheduled to launch in the third quarter of 2026.
“For the S5 EV Magnify Next variant, it will arrive later in the third quarter. So currently we are focused on the Magnify and Ignite variants,” said Harry.
