Mexico pledges continued aid to Cuba amid US blockade
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum on Tuesday reaffirmed her government’s commitment to channelling aid to Cuba, stating the island nation faces a difficult situation requiring the solidarity of the international community. During her daily press conference, Sheinbaum pledged to continue sending all forms of assistance as part of the long-standing solidarity relationship between the two countries. “We continue to send all forms of aid and we will continue to send aid to the Cuban people,” she said. Sheinbaum stressed that Mexico would deploy all its capabilities to continue supporting the island nation, especially as the United States tightens its blockade against Cuba, which has lasted more than six decades. “This is a matter of solidarity. The Mexican people have always done this and we will continue to do so, because Cuba is a country that needs it,” she stated.
