Metropolitan Police Arrest Two Former Ministry of Agriculture Employees Over Rp 5.94 Billion Corruption

The Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) have unveiled the results of their investigation into an alleged corruption case involving fraudulent official travel expenses valued at Rp 5.94 billion, with two former employees of Indonesia’s Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan), identified as IM and DS, now in custody.

“It is confirmed that suspects IM and DS were apprehended in Tanjung Raja district, Ogan Ilir Regency on Monday, 9 March 2026, in connection with corruption charges that were reported some time ago,” said Jakarta Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Kombes Budi Hermanto to journalists on Wednesday (11/3/2026).

Hermanto stated that the suspects had attempted to flee. They are currently being held at Jakarta Metropolitan Police detention facilities for further processing.

“The suspects fled and were apprehended. Both suspects are now in detention. The first suspect, Ms IM, was detained on 9 March 2026, and Mr DS on 10 March 2026,” he said.

Case Background

Kombes Budi Hermanto explained that the case originated from an official complaint filed by the Ministry of Agriculture, accompanied by an audit report from the Financial and Development Supervisory Board (BPKP) of DKI Jakarta.

“There was a complaint from one ministry or institution to the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, submitting an audit report from BPKP DKI regarding losses related to official travel documents, amounting to Rp 9 billion,” he stated on Wednesday (28/1).

The Jakarta Metropolitan Police followed up on the complaint by conducting investigation and further inquiries. In the process, investigators examined witnesses, evidence, and conducted additional audits.

“During the investigation, witness examinations, and evidence reviews, audits were conducted and losses of Rp 5.94 billion were discovered,” he said.

Based on the investigation results, the Jakarta Metropolitan Police designated two individuals as suspects: IM and DS. This designation was followed by a court order for asset seizure.

“Currently, there are two suspects: Ms IM and Mr DS. The incident occurred between 2020 and 2024. The investigation is still ongoing,” he explained.
