Metro Tangerang Police Strengthen Community Ties Through Food Assistance Programme for Online Drivers

The Metro Tangerang Police Chief Kombes Raden Muhammad Jauhari distributed food assistance packages to online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers in Tangerang City. A total of 50 packages were distributed to the drivers.

The activity was held on Friday (13 March) at the parking lot of the Al Fatah Mosque at the Metro Tangerang Police headquarters. The event was attended by Deputy Police Chief AKBP Eko Bagus Riyadi, various unit commanders from Metro Tangerang Police, and representatives of the online driver community.

Jauhari stated that this social initiative represents the police commitment to the community, particularly informal sector workers such as online motorcycle taxi drivers who struggle to earn a living on the roads daily. He emphasised that the “Friday Care” programme demonstrates that the police are present not only in law enforcement but also in social community activities.

In the activity, 50 food assistance packages were distributed to the online drivers. Each package contained essential items including rice, cooking oil, instant noodles, sugar, tea, soy sauce, coffee, and biscuits.

Jauhari hopes that this modest assistance can help ease the economic burden of online drivers while strengthening the relationship between the police and the community. He stressed that the police wish to remain present within the community and provide direct benefits.

Mardianus, the field coordinator of the Tangerang City online driver community, expressed appreciation for the attention given by Metro Tangerang Police to the online drivers. He stated that such activities are highly meaningful to them.

The “Friday Care” programme is a regular activity conducted by Metro Tangerang Police every Friday as a form of social concern for those in need.
