Metro Police Uncover Synthetic Tobacco 'Factory' in South Jakarta, 341 Grams Seized

The Metro Jaya Police Narcotics Directorate has once again uncovered a case of the circulation and production of synthetic tobacco narcotics in the Menteng Atas area, Setiabudi, South Jakarta. 341.62 grams of synthetic tobacco were seized. The case came to light during an operation conducted on Friday (27/3) around 19:00 WIB in the Menteng Atas area, Setiabudi, South Jakarta. Police successfully apprehended MS (24) along with evidence of ready-to-distribute narcotics. “The suspect, initialled MS (24), was secured at a house located in the Menteng Atas area, Setiabudi, South Jakarta,” stated AKP Bobby Wijaya, Head of Unit 2 Subdirectorate 1 of the Metro Jaya Police Narcotics Directorate, in his statement on Monday (30/3/2026). This arrest stemmed from information from the public regarding suspicious activities related to the misuse of synthetic tobacco narcotics. Upon searching the premises, police found evidence consisting of synthetic tobacco narcotics weighing 26.15 grams gross and synthetic seeds weighing 26.15 grams. “In addition, a number of tools suspected to be used for production were found, such as chemical liquids, spray devices, digital scales, clip plastics, and a complete set of production equipment,” he said. From initial examinations, it was learned that the suspects marketed the illicit goods through social media using a covert transaction and distribution system. “Their sales methods include through online media such as Instagram accounts. We urge the public not to ever try or use such narcotics,” he explained. The suspect and evidence have been taken to Metro Jaya Police Headquarters for further investigation.
