Metro Police Uncover 1,833 Drug Cases, Secure 2,485 Suspects
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Narcotics Criminal Investigation Directorate of Metro Jaya Police has successfully uncovered 1,833 drug cases with 2,485 drug suspects secured during the period from January to March 2026.
“Metro Jaya Police and its subordinate police resorts have uncovered perpetrators of drug distribution and misuse in 1,833 cases and secured 2,485 suspects,” said the Head of Narcotics Criminal Investigation of Metro Jaya Police, Senior Commissioner Ahmad David, during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday.
David explained that the secured suspects had various roles, with details as follows: nine as producers and 972 suspects acting as dealers.
“Meanwhile, 1,504 suspects as users or addicts or victims of the crime itself, for whom we carry out healing and rehabilitation, both medical and social, through restorative justice processes,” he said.
From the total number of suspects, we detail: 2,283 male suspects, 202 female suspects, 14 foreign nationals, and seven children.
Meanwhile, for the seizure of drug evidence, a total of 712 kilograms (kg) of various types of narcotics were successfully confiscated, which is the result of seizures from case revelations during the January to March 2026 period.
He detailed first shabu weighing 115.84 kg, ganja weighing 275.92 kg, ecstasy powder weighing 19.69 kg, synthetic tobacco weighing 7.63 kg, synthetic seed powder weighing 4.5 kg, ketamine weighing 16.02 kg, and cocaine weighing 1.02 kg.
“Then there are 26,593 ecstasy pills, 873,950 dangerous drug pills, 11,000 vape cartridges containing etomidate, 5,070 heavy five pills, and 96 packets of heavy water,” said David.
David added that from the overall seized evidence, if converted to the selling value of the evidence on the black market, Rp280 billion has been seized and 5,173,407 lives of Jakarta residents and surrounding areas have been saved from the dangers of drug distribution and misuse.
“From the data I presented, this shows that the condition of Jakarta and its surroundings is very vulnerable to drug distribution and misuse, both adults and children in various professions are all vulnerable to the dangers of drugs,” he said.
He added that the success of this revelation is the result of cooperation from all parties who always provide information to us to continue efforts to prevent and eradicate drugs.
“This is also a commitment from us, a commitment from the Chief of Metro Jaya Police in implementing and executing President Prabowo’s Asta Cita programme, the seventh one, which is to strengthen drug eradication,” said David.
