Metro Police Secure 7 Children in Connection with Drug Abuse
Metro Jaya Police continue to discover children who are victims of drug abuse. The Director of Narcotics Investigations at Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Ahmad David, stated that his team has secured seven children for consuming drugs.
“Here, we have secured seven individuals. After conducting examinations, it was found that these children are involved in drug abuse, specifically as drug users—once again, drug users,” David said during a press conference at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters in South Jakarta on Wednesday (8/4/2026).
“Therefore, we proceed in accordance with legal regulations, through diversion and restorative justice. We provide treatment at rehabilitation centres so they can recover and return to their social lives in the community,” he continued.
Highlighting the persistent issue of children becoming victims of drug circulation and abuse, Metro Police are continuously implementing mitigation and prevention efforts. These include providing education and establishing anti-drug villages.
“All of this involves enlightenment efforts, giving an overview that drugs are extremely dangerous to health and social life. We continue to carry out these initiatives,” David explained.
For the anti-drug villages, a total of 32 locations have been established. There, anti-drug agents are formed to provide education on the dangers of drugs to the community, particularly children.
“The efforts undertaken by the Narcotics Directorate and the jurisdictional police resorts are to form 32 anti-drug villages in the Jakarta area, to act as agents in disseminating information, conducting socialisation, and carrying out initiatives to provide information regarding the presence or absence of drug dangers in those villages,” David added.
