Metro Police Secure 5,000 Drug Suspects in Six Months
The Metro Jaya Regional Police and its precincts uncovered 3,809 police reports related to narcotics and dangerous pharmaceuticals during the period from January to June 2026. A total of 5,196 suspects were secured.
“During the period from January to June 2026, the Metro Jaya Regional Police and its precincts successfully uncovered 3,809 police reports with a total of 5,196 suspects,” said Metro Jaya Police Chief Commissioner General Asep Edi Suheri during a press conference at Metro Jaya Police headquarters in Jakarta on Friday (26/6/2026).
Of that number, 19 suspects were identified as producers. Furthermore, 1,914 suspects were identified as dealers and 3,263 suspects as users.
Asep stated that users are being handled through medical and social rehabilitation, in accordance with prevailing laws and regulations.
“The evidence secured by the Metro Jaya Police ranks reached 17.45 tonnes, valued at Rp 1.7 trillion,” Asep Edi said.
Asep said his party had managed to save tens of millions of lives from the potential misuse of narcotics and dangerous pharmaceuticals. “When converted, it is estimated that we have prevented potential life-threatening abuse affecting around 15.9 million Indonesian citizens,” he continued.
