Metro Police reveal Richard Lee has not yet filed for a stay of detention
Metro Jaya Police say there has been no request for a stay of detention from Richard Lee’s legal counsel in connection with the case against the doctor.
“There has been no request for a stay of detention communicated through his attorney,” said Public Relations Head of Metro Jaya Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, to reporters on Sunday (8/3).
Budi said he is being held with other detainees at the Metro Jaya Police Detention Centre.
During detention, he said, the rights of the person concerned are respected just as other suspects under detention.
“This includes the right to observe fasting and suhoor. There have been no complaints to date,” he added.
The case involving Richard stemmed from a report filed by Samira Farahnaz, also known as a detective doctor, on 2 December 2024 with LP/B/7317/XII/2024/SPKT Polda Metro Jaya.
From the results of investigation and inquiry, the police named Richard a suspect in alleged violations in the health and consumer protection sectors. He has held the status of suspect since 15 December 2025.
In this matter, Richard is charged under Article 435 in conjunction with Article 138 paragraph 2 of Law Number 17 of 2023 on Health with a penalty of up to 12 years in prison and/or a maximum fine of Rp5 billion.
Richard is also charged under Article 62 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 8 paragraph 1 and/or Article 9 paragraph 1 of Law Number 8 of 1999 on Consumer Protection with a penalty of up to five years in prison and/or a maximum fine of Rp2 billion.
Following the designation as a suspect, Richard filed a pretrial suit with the South Jakarta District Court. However, the suit was rejected.
