Metro Police Prepare Humanistic Security for May Day 2026 at Monas and DPR
The Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, stated that the presence of officers in the field is not solely focused on security. According to him, the personnel are also there to provide services to the public and protest participants to ensure all activities run peacefully.
“Officers are present not only for security but also to provide services. We prioritise a humanistic approach so that the aspirations of our fellow workers can be conveyed properly,” said Budi on Thursday (30/4/2026).
A total of 24,980 combined personnel participated in the force deployment roll call at Monas Intersection, Central Jakarta, that afternoon. The combined personnel consist of 15,575 Polri personnel, 6,003 TNI personnel, 1,002 DKI Jakarta Provincial Government personnel, 400 security personnel, and 2,000 Community Security Belt personnel.
The May Day activities on Friday (1/5) will be centred in the Monas area, as well as several other aspiration delivery points.
“Metro Jaya Regional Police, together with TNI, local government, security personnel, and related parties, are preparing 24,980 personnel. This is to ensure the May Day 2026 activities run safely, orderly, smoothly, humanely, and conducive. The rights of brothers and sisters workers to express opinions are protected by law,” he said.
Budi explained that there are two major agendas that will be the focus of services and security by the apparatus. First, the May Day Fiesta 2026 in the Monas area. Second, public aspiration delivery activities in the DPR/MPR RI area and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Manpower Office.
Regarding traffic flow, Metro Jaya Regional Police is preparing situational traffic engineering. The public is urged to avoid the Monas, DPR/MPR RI, and DKI Jakarta Manpower Office areas if they have no urgent business.
“Traffic engineering is functional and situational. Developments will continue to be conveyed through social media, online media, and all official information platforms,” he clarified.
He also urged protest participants and the public to jointly maintain a safe and conducive situation. He asked all parties not to be easily provoked during the activities.
“We urge all parties not to be easily provoked. The personnel on duty are also our brothers and sisters. Let us together maintain so that aspirations can be conveyed peacefully and orderly,” he concluded.
