Metro Police Open Complaint Post and Hotline to Investigate Acid Attack on KontraS Activist

The Jakarta Metropolitan Police are committed to thoroughly investigating the acid attack against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. This initiative follows direct instructions from National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

Head of Public Relations for the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, stated that investigators are currently working intensively in the field. The police’s primary focus is to identify the perpetrator through scientific crime investigation methods.

“The Metro Jakarta Police Chief has given special attention to ensure that this dangerous liquid attack on our activist colleague becomes the top priority. We are conducting in-depth analysis based on criminal science methodology. Let us give space to the joint team from the Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police Precinct and the Crime Investigation Bureau of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police to work quickly to uncover and apprehend the perpetrators,” stated Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto at the Ketupat Operation Security Post on Sunday (15 March 2026).

The Jakarta Metropolitan Police have officially established a dedicated complaint post to address harassment against activists. The post is located in the lobby of the Crime Investigation Bureau building of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police. In addition to in-person services, the police have also provided a fast-track system through the 110 call centre and hotline number 0812-8559-9191, which can be contacted at any time by the public.

Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto also invited active public participation and encouraged people not to hesitate in providing information. The police guarantee the safety and confidentiality of anyone who contributes to uncovering this case.

“To all witnesses who heard, saw, knew of, or directly experienced this incident, we request your assistance in providing information to us. We guarantee full protection and security assurance for every witness who aids the investigation,” he added.
