Metro Police Invite Matraman Residents to Prevent Brawls in 'Jaga Jakarta On The Spot' Programme
The Directorate of Vital Object Security (Ditpamobvit) of the Metro Jaya Police held a ‘Jaga Jakarta On The Spot’ (JJOTS) event in the Matraman area, East Jakarta, calling on the public to play an active role in preventing street brawls. The activity was carried out by the Head of Operations and Planning and unit heads representing the Director of Vital Object Security, Senior Commissioner Joko Sulistio, on Friday, 26 June 2026. Officers visited residents door-to-door to deliver public safety and security messages. Senior Commissioner Joko Sulistio stated that the JJOTS initiative is part of the Metro Jaya Police’s efforts to maintain a safe and conducive security situation. ‘Through the Jaga Jakarta On The Spot activity, we invite the community to work together to protect the environment, prevent brawls, and increase awareness regarding the social interactions of children and teenagers,’ he said in a statement on Saturday, 27 June 2026. Residents were also urged to actively monitor social media usage by children and teenagers to prevent invitations to brawls or provocative content that could trigger public disorder. The circulation of illegal drugs and narcotics was also a key part of the educational material, with residents asked to immediately report any suspicious activities in their neighbourhoods. Senior Commissioner Joko emphasised that maintaining security in Jakarta cannot be done by the police alone but requires cooperation from all elements of society. ‘We hope that residents, the three pillars, religious leaders, and community leaders can continue to synergise in maintaining environmental security. With shared awareness, the potential for brawls and drug abuse can be prevented early,’ he said. The JJOTS activity involved local residents, the head of the neighbourhood unit, the Community Resilience Institute of RW 01, and the local community police officer. The presence of the three pillars alongside religious and community leaders is considered important to strengthen supervision of youth activities in the area. Through the Jaga Jakarta programme, Metro Jaya Police continues to encourage residents to protect one another, safeguard the environment, uphold regulations, and maintain trust to create a safe, orderly, and conducive situation.
