Metro Police Investigate Faizal Assegaf's Report on Defamation of KPK Spokesperson

Jakarta - Police will investigate a report by the Director of PT Sinkos Multimedia Mandiri and 1998 Activist, Faizal Assegaf, regarding alleged defamation of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) spokesperson, Budi Prasetyo.

The Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, stated that the report has already been followed up.

“Currently, it is in the distribution phase, preparing the investigation administration,” Budi explained when met at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters on Thursday (16/4/2026).

“He, in a media statement post, stated that the examination of the victim related to allegations of having received goods or facilities,” Budi clarified.

Subsequently, the police will summon Faizal to submit evidence and propose names of witnesses to be examined.

“We ask for time and space for the investigators and investigators to work first,” he said.

Faizal’s report at Metro Jaya is registered under number LP/B/2592/IV/2026/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA dated 14 April 2026.

In his report, Budi is alleged to have violated Article 433 of the Criminal Code on defamation in the presence of the public.

Along with him, investigators also examined two DJBC employees named Muhammad Mahzun and Rahmat.

At that time, KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo revealed that the examination related to allegations of receiving facilities from the suspect, Director of Enforcement and Investigation of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (P2 DJBC) for the period 2024 to January 2026, Rizal.

“Certainly, in that examination, the investigators delved into the intent, purpose, and background of the suspect RZ providing goods or facilities to the witness examined today,” Budi said at the Red and White Building, Jakarta, on Tuesday.
