Metro Police Identify 106 Flood Risk Points Ahead of Eid Holiday Period
Jakarta (ANTARA) — The Jakarta Metro Police have mapped 106 flood-prone locations and deployed numerous personnel to anticipate potential disasters during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period in 1447 Hijriah.
“We are anticipating flooding that may occur, which we have already mapped at 106 flood-prone points scattered throughout the jurisdiction of the Metro Police,” said Jakarta Metro Police Chief Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri in Jakarta on Saturday.
To ensure rapid response in the event of flooding, the force has prepared 523 disaster standby personnel organised under the Search and Rescue Team (SAR Team). The team comprises 210 SAR personnel from the Metro Police headquarters and 313 SAR personnel from various Police Resort (Polres) units across the jurisdiction.
“Furthermore, regarding firefighting readiness, we have prepared 148 fire department units,” said Asep.
He noted that the force has also prepared 57 ambulances to transport people to 84 referral hospitals within the Metro Police jurisdiction.
Members of the public can deposit their vehicles at the nearest local Police Sector office (Polsek) to their residence. “Coordinate with officials there, have it recorded, and make sure it is documented so that people undertaking mudik do not worry about their vehicles going missing,” he said.
He urged the public to exercise caution during their journey to ensure safe travel to their hometowns and back to Jakarta.
He also requested drivers undertaking mudik journeys in private vehicles to rest immediately at the nearest rest area.
“If you encounter situations requiring police assistance, immediately contact the Call Centre 110,” said Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri.
The Metro Police has established Operation Ketupat 2026, which runs for 13 days, from 13 March to 21 March 2026.
