Metro Police Explain Brimob Deployment During Cipete Cafe Raid

The Metro Jaya Police have explained that the deployment of Brimob (Mobile Brigade) personnel to secure a search at the de’Clan Signature cafe and Coin Money Changer in Cipete, South Jakarta, was a standard procedure. Kabid Humas Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Budi Hermanto, stated at the location on Wednesday (8/7/2026) that the use of force was an anticipatory measure and part of the police’s Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). He urged all parties not to obstruct the investigation process, warning that anyone attempting to hinder the investigation could be processed under Article 21 of the Corruption Eradication Law.

The search is part of a joint investigation between the Corruption Eradiction Task Force (Kortas Tipikor) Polri and the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimsus) of Polda Metro Jaya. The investigation involves at least three cases. Kortas Tipikor Polri Chief, Inspector General Totok Suharyanto, detailed that the cases include alleged corruption in coal procurement that triggered a blackout, the Asabri case, and the debt settlement process from PT CBS to PT KNI, a subsidiary of the state-owned enterprise Krakatau Steel.

Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya Director, Kombes Victor Dean Mackbon, elaborated on two specific objects of the investigation. The first concerns alleged corruption and money laundering in the legal handling of the PT Asabri and Jiwasraya cases by state officials between 2020 and 2025. The second involves alleged corruption and money laundering in the debt settlement process from PT CBS to PT KNI by state officials during the same period. The police are investigating the cases under articles related to extortion, bribery, and money laundering, though the identities of the suspects have not yet been disclosed.
