Bekasi Regency (ANTARA) - Polda Metro Jaya is examining an active member of the police from Polsek Cimanggis, Polres Depok, Aiptu YS alias Lippo, regarding allegations of involvement as a broker in the procurement of goods and services within the Bekasi Regency Government.

The Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Commissioner Pol. Budi Hermanto, stated that an internal clarification is being conducted through the Professional and Security Division (Propam) concerning the testimony of Aiptu YS at the Bandung Corruption Court trial involving the inactive Bekasi Regent Ade Kuswara Kunang.

“Regarding the information mentioning that Aiptu YS appeared as a witness in the Bekasi Regent’s corruption trial, Propam has conducted a clarification with the individual,” Budi said when confirmed from Bekasi on Thursday.

The name YS emerged after serving as a witness in the trial for the alleged criminal act of corruption involving project advances within the Bekasi Regency Government, held at the Bandung Corruption Court (Tipikor) on Wednesday (8/4).

YS alias “Lippo” admitted to being an active member of the Indonesian National Police when questioned by the KPK prosecutor during the trial.

Budi stated that Polda Metro Jaya respects the ongoing legal process and hands over the handling of the alleged corruption case involving project advances in procurement of goods and services to the competent institutions.

“We are also monitoring the facts of the trial and handing over the handling to the institution in charge. It can be stated that the individual appeared at the trial in the capacity of a witness,” he said.

He also confirmed that YS had submitted a resignation request on 18 March, which is currently being processed by the Human Resources Bureau of Polda Metro Jaya.

Do Not Approve

Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) Chairman Sugeng Teguh Santoso separately opined that the resignation request from the police officer YS does not nullify the legal process over the alleged involvement as a project broker while still on active duty.

“It must be remembered that the actions as a project broker and receiving ‘fee’ (commission) were carried out while he was still an active police officer. Therefore, he must be processed for corruption, as it involves receiving gratification or bribes, and the flow of funds must be thoroughly investigated,” he said.

He also urged the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to immediately examine and designate YS as a suspect. “The KPK must immediately examine and designate brother YS as a suspect,” he stated.

Sugeng also touched on YS’s resignation move from the National Police institution. If approved, the individual would no longer be a police member and could potentially avoid internal processing through ethical codes or disciplinary violations.

“If approved, he is no longer a member of the National Police,” he said.

“In my opinion, his resignation request should not be approved, but he should be dismissed by a decision from the Police Ethics Commission, with dishonourable discharge (PTDH) if proven to have committed serious violations,” he added.
