Metro Jaya Deputy Police Chief Brigadier General Dekananto Eko Purwono and his personnel conducted a clean-up operation on Jalan MH Thamrin, Central Jakarta, after escorting a student demonstration in the area. In a written statement, it was noted that the Deputy Chief and other officers carried rubbish bags and collected plastic bottles, cardboard, and other litter scattered on the road. The action was taken to ensure public spaces were clean again following the student and community protest.

Personnel from the Metro Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob), led by Senior Commissioner Henik Maryanto, also participated in clearing the post-demonstration waste.

Metro Police Head of Public Relations, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, stated that the activity was a tangible demonstration of the police force’s concern for the environment and the community. He said the police presence is not only to ensure activities proceed safely and orderly, but also to help maintain order and cleanliness in public spaces.

“After providing service for the expression of opinions by students and the community, the Metro Jaya Deputy Chief together with principal officials and police personnel directly cleaned the area. This is a form of shared concern and responsibility to ensure public facilities are clean, orderly, and comfortable for use again,” said Senior Commissioner Budi in a statement on Friday (12/6/2026).

Budi added that the clean-up action also served as a moral message that safeguarding Jakarta is not only about security, but also about environmental awareness. “Keeping Jakarta safe, orderly, clean, and comfortable is our shared responsibility. We invite the public to participate in maintaining cleanliness and caring for public facilities,” he said.

He also expressed appreciation to all personnel who carried out their duties humanely and continued to show concern after the event concluded. “Thank you to all personnel who served with full responsibility. The spirit of serving the community must continue to be demonstrated, both in facilitating public activities and in acts of care like this,” he added.
