Metro Police Deploy 6,812 Personnel to Secure Eid Celebrations
Jakarta — Jakarta Metro Police (Polda Metro Jaya) has deployed 6,812 personnel to secure 1,647 locations during Operation Ketupat 2026, including banks, pawnshops, and Pertamina fuel depots.
“For the implementation of Operation Ketupat 2026 over the next 13 days from 13 March to 25 March, our security plan in the Jakarta Metro Police jurisdiction encompasses 1,647 locations,” said Metro Police Chief Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri at a press briefing in Jakarta on Saturday.
The personnel consist of 5,092 police officers and support staff, including 416 military (TNI) personnel, 1,088 local government (Pemda) staff, and 216 volunteers from the community.
“From the National Police we have 5,092 personnel, divided into two groups: 2,700 from the Metro Police command and 2,392 from the district police units,” Asep explained.
The security operations will include 95 checkpoint locations, comprising 68 security posts, 22 service posts, and five integrated posts. Additionally, nine monitoring posts will be established along the Cikampek toll road to monitor homecoming traffic.
“We will also provide security at 13 locations where Takbir (Islamic prayer) celebrations are held at night,” Asep stated.
Security will continue through Eid al-Fitr, covering 133 locations designated for Eid prayers and charity distribution. The police will also secure 10 major mosques and 123 other mosques throughout the region.
The force will provide additional security at 37 public cemeteries to prevent congestion from the anticipated high volume of visitors paying respects during the holiday period.
Special attention will be given to 68 major tourist attractions across Jakarta, including the National Monument (Monas), Hotel Indonesia Roundabout, Ragunan Zoo, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), Old Town, Ancol, and the Thousand Islands.
Tourist attractions outside Jakarta, such as Ocean Park BSD City Serpong, Aviary Park, BXSea, Scientia Square Park, and various waterparks in Bekasi and Depok, will also receive security coverage.
