The Jakarta Metro Police (Polda Metro Jaya) has deployed 6,800 personnel from the police, military, and related agencies across its jurisdiction to provide security and convenience during the Eid homecoming (mudik Lebaran) operation scheduled for 13–25 March 2026.

“During Operation Ketupat, no fewer than 6,800 personnel will be deployed throughout the Metro Jaya Police jurisdiction to ensure security and comfort during the Eid homecoming operation,” said Metro Jaya Traffic Director Senior Commissioner Komarudin to journalists on Monday, 9 March.

According to predictions from the Ministry of Transport, peak homebound traffic is expected on 16–18 March. Jakarta ranks second among cities with the largest number of homebound travellers.

“Travellers from Jakarta will split into three directions: westbound towards Sumatra, southbound towards Bogor and surrounding areas, and eastbound towards Central Java, West Java, East Java, and beyond,” Komarudin explained.

Beyond deploying thousands of personnel, Polda Metro Jaya will establish 110 service and security posts to ensure smooth and safe traffic flow.

Komarudin noted that authorities are also preparing for potential heavy rainfall during the homecoming period. The police have mapped flood-prone areas across the jurisdiction.

“If flooding is between zero and 30 centimetres, it can be managed, but if it exceeds 30 centimetres, road management measures may be necessary as some routes cannot be accessed,” he said.

Komarudin urged homebound travellers to check their vehicle conditions before departing, including ensuring their health status. He also recommended planning travel during off-peak periods to avoid congestion during the peak homecoming and return flows.
