The Narcotics Investigation Directorate of the Metro Police conducted urine testing of drivers of intercity and interstate buses (AKAP) ahead of the Eid mudik travel period.

“This measure aims to ensure that drivers are in prime condition and free from drug abuse, so that the mudik journey can proceed safely, orderly, and smoothly,” said Kombes Budi Hermanto, Head of Public Relations for the Metro Police, on Saturday, 14 March 2026.

Urine testing was carried out at Kampung Rambutan Terminal on Friday, 14 March as part of efforts to ensure passenger safety during the 2026 Eid mudik period.

The checks were conducted randomly on a number of bus drivers who would be transporting passengers to various destinations. The drivers underwent urine testing in accordance with official instructions for the safety of the mudik journey.

“Officers also issued warnings to drivers to maintain their health, get adequate rest, and avoid the use of illicit drugs that could endanger the safety of themselves and their passengers,” said Hermanto.

Hermanto stated that the supervision activity would continue to be carried out periodically at several major terminals to support the smooth flow of Eid mudik traffic this year.
