Metro Police Commends Citizens for Recording Reckless Driver in Central Jakarta
The Metro Jakarta Police have expressed appreciation for members of the public who recorded the actions of HM (25), a Toyota Calya driver who drove recklessly and collided with several vehicles on Gunung Sahari Road, Central Jakarta. Metro Police stated that footage from citizens provided crucial information for legal proceedings.
“We recognise that the community also cares about this. We are grateful if there are uploads from the public, and the content shared becomes education and information for us,” said Metro Jakarta Police Public Relations Chief Commissioner Budi Hermanto at Police Headquarters (Mabes Polri) in South Jakarta on Friday, 27 February 2026.
Budi noted that the Indonesian National Police (Polri) operates the PoliceTube platform. He stated that citizens can upload recordings of traffic accidents, traffic violations, and other incidents to the platform for swift action.
“We will facilitate this through a platform that has been developed by Metro Jakarta Police on PoliceTube for reporting incidents. All members of the public can upload all incidents occurring in the field—traffic accidents, fires, congestion, accidents on roads—we will also open this platform,” he said.
