Metro Police Chief’s Directive: Depok Police Promote a Clean and Green Culture

This morning, the Depok Metro Police (Polres Metro Depok) personnel held an assembly to launch a waste-sorting initiative, a follow-up to the order from the Police Chief, said Depok Metro Police Chief, Kombes Abdul Waras, on Saturday (23 May 2026).

The ceremony was led by the police chief and was attended by around 300 personnel and senior officials (PJU) of the Depok Metro Police on the Field of the Zamzam Apartment Building.

This activity is also part of efforts to foster a culture of environmental care and to create a clean and well-kept working environment.

During the event, symbolic handover of cleaning tools was made by the parade inspector to a representative of the personnel as a form of joint commitment to maintaining a clean workplace.

This program also aligns with government policies on urban waste management and efforts to foster shared awareness to sort waste starting at the workplace.

According to him, the launch is not merely ceremonial but an initial step in building new habits to maintain environmental cleanliness consistently and sustainably.

Following the assembly, Depok Metro Police personnel immediately carried out a communal cleaning drive and tidied the environment as a tangible implementation of the environmental-awareness movement.

Depok Metro Police have also provided segregated waste bins by type—organic, non-organic, and hazardous waste (B3). The provision of these facilities is expected to encourage all personnel to habitually sort waste in a disciplined and sustainable manner.

The police chief emphasised that the waste issue may seem simple, but can become a major problem if not managed well.

‘This waste issue may appear simple, but if we do not manage it properly, correctly, consistently, and sustainably, it will become a major problem,’ he said.

He added that the Jaga Jakarta Bersih dan Asri movement is part of the Metro Jaya Police’s commitment to continually be present in a humane manner among the community. The police force is not only about maintaining public security and order but also about fostering environmental concern.

‘The Police want to continue to present a humane face, not only in maintaining Kamtibmas (security and public order) but also through environmental concern. The spirit of Jaga Jakarta must start from small things, including keeping the environment clean and pristine,’ he concluded.
