Metro Police Arrest 635 Tramadol Dealers Operating Behind Cosmetic and Grocery Shops
Polda Metro Jaya has arrested hundreds of suspects linked to the circulation of hard drugs such as tramadol, eksimer, and alprazolam between January and June 2026. The suspects covertly distributed the drugs under the guise of operating cosmetic shops and grocery stalls. The Director of Narcotics at Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Ahmad David, stated that the seized hard drugs included tramadol, eksimer, trihexyphenidyl, alprazolam, dextro, xanax, and mersi. A total of 635 suspects were apprehended at 528 crime scenes within the jurisdiction of Polda Metro Jaya. ‘We secured 528 crime scenes with 635 suspects arrested, and seized 13.42 tonnes of evidence,’ said Senior Commissioner Ahmad David during a press conference at Polda Metro Jaya, Jakarta, on Friday (26/6/2026). The suspects manipulated their operations by camouflaging their businesses as cosmetic stores and roadside grocery shops to sell the dangerous hard drugs. ‘We can report that the perpetrators used the modus operandi of manipulating and camouflaging cosmetic stores and roadside grocery shops to sell dangerous hard drugs,’ he stated. Senior Commissioner Ahmad David explained that significant seizures occurred in the South Tangerang and Sunter, North Jakarta areas. ‘Regarding the significant seizures of these dangerous hard drugs, the first crime scene was in the South Tangerang area, specifically at the East Lengkong Warehousing complex, South Tangerang,’ he revealed. ‘This was based on information from the public submitted to the police precincts under the South Tangerang Police. The second major seizure was at the Sunter Agung Warehousing crime scene in North Jakarta,’ he continued.
