Metro Jaya Regional Police Uncover 27.96 kg Cannabis Distribution in East Jakarta
The Metro Jaya Regional Police Narcotics Criminal Investigation Directorate has dismantled a narcotics distribution network in the East Jakarta area, seizing evidence consisting of 27.96 kilograms of cannabis and 2.69 grams of methamphetamine from a rented house.
AKBP Triyatno Pamungkas, Head of Sub-directorate 2 of the Metro Jaya Regional Police Narcotics Criminal Investigation Directorate, explained in a statement on Saturday that the operation took place on Wednesday (22/7). The police secured three suspects, identified by the initials D.H.P. (3ASS), F.R. (32), and Y.P. (37), at four different locations in the Jatinegara District, East Jakarta.
“The disclosure of this case originated from community reports, prompting our officers to conduct investigations in the East Jakarta area, which successfully led to the arrest of the three suspects and the seizure of the evidence,” he said.
Triyatno explained that the operation began following information from the public regarding suspected narcotics transactions and package pickups in the Jatinegara area. “Initial investigations led to the suspect D.H.P., who was detained at a house in the Cipinang Muara area,” he added.
Based on information from D.H.P., police expanded their investigation to a rented house in the Cipinang area. At that location, officers arrested F.R. along with dozens of cannabis packages stored in baskets and cardboard boxes.
“During the search of the rented house, we seized 24 packages of cannabis with a gross weight of 24.877 kilograms stored in green baskets, as well as three packages of cannabis with a gross weight of 3.079 kilograms inside cardboard boxes,” Triyatno stated.
In addition to the cannabis, officers also seized several small packages of methamphetamine with a total gross weight of 2.69 grams, several mobile phones used for transactions, and other supporting evidence.
“Intensive examinations revealed that all the illegal substances belonged to the suspect Y.P. The police acted swiftly and successfully apprehended Y.P. at a separate location,” he explained.
Triyatno emphasised that the police remain committed to eradicating the illegal narcotics trade within the jurisdiction of DKI Jakarta and its surrounding areas. “Currently, the three suspects and all the evidence have been taken to the Metro Jaya Regional Police Headquarters to undergo the investigation process and further case development,” he concluded.
