The General Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimum) of the Metro Jaya Regional Police has declared its readiness to comply with the South Jakarta District Court decision regarding the continuation of the investigation into the acid attack targeting Andrie Yunus, Vice Coordinator of KontraS. The police are committed to reopening the case in accordance with the pre-trial judge’s order.

The Director of General Criminal Investigation of Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Iman Imannuddin, emphasised that the institution fully respects the legal ruling. As a law enforcement agency, Metro Jaya Police will conduct the investigation process in accordance with applicable regulations.

“Regarding the court decision at the South Jakarta District Court concerning the victim, Mr Andrie Yunus, we certainly respect the verdict,” Iman stated in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Iman explained that investigators will immediately take further legal steps. Given the involvement of Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) personnel in this case, Metro Jaya Police will establish intensive communication and coordination with relevant agencies, including the military.

During the trial, Single Judge Suparna granted part of the petition filed by Andrie Yunus’s legal team. The judge ordered the Metro Jaya Police to continue the legal process regarding police report number LP/A/222/III/2026/Sat Reskrim/Restro Jakpus/Polda Metro Jaya, dated 13 March 2026.

Legal counsel for Andrie Yunus has urged the police to pursue other perpetrators. Based on CCTV footage, it is suspected that a total of 16 individuals were involved in the terror attack. There are allegations of involvement by civilians and intellectual actors who have not yet been brought to justice.

To date, four TNI personnel suspected of being field perpetrators are being detained and are undergoing trial in a military court. With this pre-trial decision, Metro Jaya Police are expected to uncover the roles of civilians and the masterminds behind the acid attack, which had previously stalled due to the transfer of files to the military court.
