Metro Jaya Police's Water and Air Unit Names Suspect in Illegal Mining Case

The Directorate of Water and Air Police (Ditpolairud) of Polda Metro Jaya has named RS as a suspect in a case concerning alleged criminal activity in the mineral and coal mining sector. In this case, RS played a role in the sales and transportation of mining commodities from an illegitimate permit holder.

"RS is suspected of carrying out activities related to the sale, transportation, processing and/or refining of mining commodities that did not originate from a legitimate permit holder," said the Head of the Law Enforcement Sub-directorate of Ditpolairud Polda Metro Jaya, AKBP Ardhie Demasetyo, in a statement on Sunday (9/8/2026).

Based on evidence obtained by investigators, RS has been detained for further investigation. "Based on the evidence obtained, investigators have named RS as a suspect and have carried out detention for the purposes of the investigation process," he revealed.

RS is being detained for 20 days, from 8 to 27 August 2026, at the Polda Metro Jaya Detention Centre. Investigators are continuing the investigation process to examine the case further.

RS is charged under Article 161 in conjunction with Article 35 paragraph (3) letters c and g, Article 104 or Article 105 of Law Number 2 of 2025 concerning Mineral and Coal Mining, and/or Article 20 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, relating to the transportation, sale, processing and/or refining of minerals or coal not originating from a legitimate permit holder, as well as provisions regarding criminal liability.
