Metro Jaya Police Reveal Faces of Suspected Perpetrators in Acid Attack on Andrie Yunus
Metro Jaya Police have revealed developments in the case of the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus by disclosing the faces of two suspected perpetrators. The photos were taken from CCTV recordings from several locations passed by the suspects while riding a motorbike after the incident.
“Two people we are showing here from this Polri data, one with initials BAC, two with initials MAK,” said Dirreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Iman Imanuddin, at Polda Metro Jaya, Jakarta, on Wednesday (18/3).
He further stated that the suspected perpetrators were identified by physical characteristics, including clothing, helmet, and vehicle used before and after the attack.
“This shows the perpetrator not yet wearing a helmet. Already wearing a blue batik-patterned shirt. And if we pause and zoom in on the image, a red T-shirt will appear,” said Dirreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Iman Imanuddin during a press conference in Jakarta, quoted from Breaking News Metro TV, Wednesday (18/3).
Furthermore, he conveyed that there were possibly four perpetrators. One of the perpetrators is suspected to have been hit by the acid. The two motorbike riders stopped their vehicle on Diponegoro Road to remove the acid from the affected body parts using mineral water.
“Suspected to have hit part of their bodies, so they both tried to clean it with mineral water,” said Iman.
Iman explained that the perpetrators’ movements were monitored at several points starting from 17:18 WIB on Thursday, 12 March 2026. The face of one suspected perpetrator who splashed Andrie Yunus is even visible.
“Next, also monitored in the second video. In the second video at 17:18, we captured a frame showing the face of one of the executors,” said Iman.
Police also found several pieces of evidence around the crime scene (TKP), including a helmet suspected to have been discarded by the perpetrator because it was hit by acid.
KontraS activist Andrie Yunus was splashed with acid. KontraS Working Body Coordinator, Dimas Bagus Arya, explained that the incident occurred around 23:37 WIB when Andrie was riding a motorbike in the Jalan Salemba I–Talang area, Senen, Central Jakarta. While passing, two perpetrators riding a motorbike suspected to be a Honda Beat approached Andrie Yunus from the opposite direction.
