Jakarta — The Metro Jaya Police issued a statement regarding the acquittal verdict handed down to Delpedro Marhaen, Executive Director of Lokataru Foundation, and his associates.
The police affirmed their respect for the judges’ decision as part of the judicial process operating in accordance with the proper legal mechanism. Brig. Gen. Budi Hermanto, Head of Public Relations at Metro Jaya Police, stated that each stage within the criminal justice system holds its own authority. Consequently, the police appreciate all processes conducted by the court.
“Metro Jaya Police views the ruling by the Central Jakarta District Court in this matter as part of the judicial process conducted in accordance with proper legal mechanisms. Each stage within the criminal justice system has its own space and authority, and we respect this as an integral part of the law enforcement process,” said Budi Hermanto on Monday, 9 March 2026.
He explained that in this case, investigators have fulfilled all procedures in accordance with their duties and authority, from the investigation stage through to the prosecution phase.
Additionally, investigators have completed stage II proceedings, which involves the transfer of suspects along with evidence to the public prosecutor. Once this stage is completed, subsequent legal proceedings fall within the purview of prosecution and court proceedings.
“In this matter, investigators have worked in accordance with their duties and authority, from the investigation process, prosecution phase, through to stage II, which comprises the transfer of suspects and evidence to the prosecutor. With the completion of this stage, the subsequent process falls within the domain of prosecution and examination at trial,” he said.
Furthermore, Budi asserted that the police would not elaborate further on the substance of the ruling delivered by the judges’ panel. According to him, what matters most to Metro Jaya Police is that the entire legal process was conducted according to procedure and applicable regulations.
“Therefore, we will not delve into the substance of the ruling delivered by the judges’ panel. For Metro Jaya Police, what is most important is that the entire process has been conducted in accordance with procedure and applicable provisions, and that each institution fulfils its respective role proportionally,” he said.
