Metro Jaya Police Question Model Alleged to Be a Mugging Victim

Jakarta — The Metro Jaya Regional Police are examining a model with initials AWS who is suspected to have been a mugging victim in West Jakarta, an incident that went viral on Saturday (16 May). Public Relations Head of Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, confirmed the matter. ‘Yes, she is being questioned by the Metro Jaya Cyber Directorate in order to obtain an explanation from the person concerned,’ he said. However, he did not specify how many questions were asked or the next steps in the case.

According to information gathered by ANTARA, AWS left the room of the Ditreskrimum (Criminal Investigation Directorate) at Polda Metro Jaya around 20:27 WIB wearing a blue hoodie and brown trousers. When contacted, AWS appeared silent, tearful, and moved to a vehicle to leave the reporters who had been waiting for her arrival.

Previously the Metro Jaya Police had interogated a model MUA (Makeup Artist) or influencer, initial AWS, who was suspected of being a mugging victim in West Jakarta. Budi explained the interrogation was conducted with the Direktorat PPA and PPO together with Satres PPA PPO Jakarta Barat and Polsek Kebun Jeruk, accompanied by UPT P3A and Psychology, including the Dokkes (Medical-Forensic) unit of Polda Metro Jaya.

‘This has been visited this afternoon and the inquiry has been deepened. So we have decided that the person concerned is not a victim of a criminal incident,’ he stated.

Budi added this was reinforced by clarification from the management of Rumah Sakit Sumber Waras in West Jakarta, that there has been no AWS name in the hospital’s records for the last month.

He also urged the public to act wisely on social media and to refrain from spreading misinformation that could cause uproar in the digital space and in public.
