Metro Jaya Police Probe THR Circular Letter Claimed to Be Issued in the Name of Tanjung Priok Port Police

Metropolitan Police of Jakarta (Polda Metro Jaya) is conducting a thorough investigation into the circulation of a request letter for the Tunjangan Hari Raya (THR) payments for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri that purportedly bears the name of the Tanjung Priok Port Police. The letter is reported to have targeted several companies in North Jakarta.

‘It is being investigated because the Tanjung Priok Police Station never issued the document,’ said the Public Relations Head of Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, as quoted by Antara on Thursday 5 March.

The Port Police Area, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, denied circulating a THR request letter for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah to the Indonesian Truck Entrepreneurs Association (Aptrindo). A photo of the letter circulated widely on several social media platforms.

‘The Tanjung Priok Port Police never issued the letter,’ said Port Police Chief AKBP Aris Wibowo in Jakarta on Thursday.

Aris added that they had coordinated with Aptrindo’s administrators to resolve the issue. The association has issued a formal clarification letter to prevent further unrest among businessmen.

‘For this incident we will investigate those who impersonate the Tanjung Priok Port Police,’ he said.

In line with the Chief of Police, the Traffic Police Chief of the Tanjung Priok Port Police, AKP Ganjar Tejasasmita, also denied involvement of his unit in issuing the letter.

Earlier, a photo of a letter headed with the Tanjung Priok Port Police and numbered B/01/III/2026/Sat Lantas circulated. The letter dated 4 March 2026 requested ‘Participation in Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah/2026’ addressed to the Director/Head of PT KPA Transport.

In the fake letter’s narrative, it stated that ‘the Traffic Unit family of the Tanjung Priok Port Police hopes for THR assistance’ and concluded with thanks for the company’s participation.
