Metro Jaya Police Prepare Traffic Security at GBK Ahead of GRIB Jaya's 15th Anniversary
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Metro Jaya Regional Police are preparing traffic security in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area, Central Jakarta, ahead of the 15th anniversary event of the community organisation Gerakan Rakyat Indonesia Bersatu (GRIB) Jaya, scheduled for Sunday (10/5/2026).
The Head of Operations of the Traffic Directorate, Metro Jaya Regional Police, Commissioner Robby Hefados, stated that several police personnel have been deployed around the GBK area since Saturday (9/5/2026) evening.
“So, the GBK area is routinely secured by us for Kamseltibcarlantas (traffic security, safety, order, and smoothness) for all community activities, including possible plans from our GRIB friends,” Robby said when contacted via message on Sunday.
Robby explained that traffic security in the GBK area is not only focused on the GRIB Jaya anniversary event but also to anticipate vehicle density and community activities during the Car Free Day (CFD).
“Indeed, every Sunday, especially around GBK, we always station traffic personnel for security, including upcoming community sports activities,” he said.
He assured that traffic personnel have been placed from morning until evening to maintain security and smooth vehicle flow around the event location.
“We have anticipated that and placed personnel from morning until evening,” Robby said.
The week 32 match of the Super League 2025-2026 has been relocated to Segiri Stadium in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, and is still scheduled for Sunday (10/5/2026).
On social media, information circulated suggesting that the match relocation was related to the use of the GBK area for the 15th GRIB Jaya anniversary event.
In response, the Head of Public Relations and Publications of the GRIB Jaya Central Executive Board, Marcel Gual, denied that their organisation’s event was the reason for the cancellation of the Persija vs Persib match at GBK.
“It is true that GRIB Jaya will hold its 15th Anniversary at the Istora Senayan area on 10 May 2026. The request to use the facilities for this event was submitted well in advance as part of the event preparations,” Marcel said in his statement on Friday (8/5/2026).
Marcel also claimed that they were unaware of the Persija vs Persib match scheduled on the same date.
“GRIB Jaya was not aware that on the same date there was a football match between Persija Jakarta and Persib Bandung,” Marcel said.
He emphasised that all decisions regarding the use of the GBK area are under the authority of the GBK complex management and other relevant parties.
“We hope the public does not easily fall for unverified information,” he said.
