Metro Jaya Police Officially Led by Three-Star General
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Metro Jaya Police is now officially led by a senior officer holding the rank of three-star general or Commissioner General (Komjen). The position of Metro Jaya Police Chief remains held by Asep Edi Suheri, who was previously ranked Inspector General and now holds the rank of Komjen. The Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Police, Senior Commissioner Pol Budi Hermanto, confirmed this in a written statement in Jakarta on Thursday. “It is true that the current Metro Jaya Police Chief holds the rank of Commissioner General of Police based on the Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Number 38/POLRI/YEAR 2026 dated 13 May 2026,” he said. Asep Edi Suheri, a man born in Tasikmalaya, West Java, on 16 November 1972, is a 1994 Police Academy (Akpol) graduate, known for his long track record in criminal investigation and law enforcement, particularly in uncovering cybercrime, narcotics, and cross-border crime cases. Asep was appointed as Metro Jaya Police Chief through Telegram Letter Number ST/1764/VIII/KEP./2025, replacing Commissioner General Pol Karyoto, who was appointed as Head of the Security Maintenance Agency (Kabaharkam) of Polri. Before serving as Metro Jaya Police Chief in 2025, Asep is known to have held positions as Chief of Cirebon City Police (2011), Deputy Chief of Bekasi City Police (2015), Chief of Tangerang City Police (2016), Deputy Director of Criminal Investigation at National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (2020), Director of Cyber Criminal Investigation at National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (2021), and Deputy Head of National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (2022). News of the promotion was confirmed through a post on the official Instagram account of Metro Jaya Police on Wednesday (13/5) night, which conveyed congratulations on achieving the three-star rank for Commissioner General Pol Asep Edi Suheri.
