Metro Jaya Police Medical Team Evacuates Student Who Fainted During BEM UI Protest in Central Jakarta
Metro Jaya Police Head of Public Relations, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, said a student fainted during the BEM UI demonstration in Tosari, Central Jakarta, today. Budi said the medical team from Metro Jaya Police immediately provided first aid at the scene.
“The action taken by the police towards one student who fainted, with the initials AF, was that medical assistance was provided by a combined team from the TNI and the Metro Jaya Police Medical and Health Division,” Budi said after the demonstration in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (18/6/2026).
Budi said AF was taken to hospital for further treatment. He said AF’s condition is now conscious.
“The person concerned was also taken by ambulance to Budha Asih Hospital, and thank God his condition is now conscious,” he said.
Budi said this action was carried out by the police as a form of service to the demonstrators. He assured that the police are ready to assist demonstrators who experience unexpected situations or require medical attention.
“The humanitarian steps taken during the process of safeguarding the expression of opinions — the presence of the TNI and Polri is to provide protection if anyone falls ill or faints, and we secure them together,” he said.
The BEM UI demonstration in Tosari, Central Jakarta, concluded this afternoon. Police confirmed the protest took place in an orderly manner.
“This evening we would like to convey that the public expression of aspirations has been completed and proceeded safely and in an orderly manner,” Budi said.
Budi expressed his gratitude to the students for holding the protest in an orderly manner. He said security at the demonstration site was also maintained.
“We would like to thank our fellow students who today expressed their aspirations and everything proceeded in an orderly manner,” he explained.
