Jakarta (ANTARA) - Metro Jaya Police have deployed the Mobile Brigade unit to provide security during a law enforcement operation against an international online gambling network in the Hayam Wuruk area, West Jakarta.

Head of Public Relations for Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Pol Budi Hermanto, confirmed the presence of Brimob personnel at the operation site.

“Indeed, Brimob unit personnel from Metro Jaya Police have been deployed to the location to provide area security support. This is done to ensure the smooth operation of fellow investigators in the field in gathering evidence and securing the suspected perpetrators,” Budi said in his statement on Saturday.

According to him, the involvement of fully armed personnel aims to anticipate potential security disturbances, given the scale of the operation targeting a cross-country syndicate network.

Budi mentioned that the operation conducted at one of the buildings in the Hayam Wuruk area identified online gambling activities connected to an international network.

Police have not yet detailed the number of suspects or the specific roles of each party because the examination process is still ongoing intensively.

Budi assured that comprehensive information regarding the chronology and results of the disclosure will be conveyed officially in the near future.

“We ask the public to be patient. Currently, the team is still working technically to dissect this network to its roots. A complete release regarding the case disclosure will be issued soon after the initial investigation process is deemed sufficient,” Budi stated.

Metro Jaya Police reaffirm their commitment to continue eradicating all forms of gambling practices that disturb the public.

“We urge residents to remain vigilant against the dangers of online gambling that can damage the economy and social fabric. Immediately report to the authorities through the 110 service if suspicious activities are found in the surrounding environment to create a safe and orderly public security and order situation,” Budi revealed.
