Jakarta (ANTARA) - Metro Jaya Police stated they have not yet received a report related to Restorative Justice (RJ) concerning the case in the “Mens Rea” performance involving comedian Pandji Pragiwaksono.

“Regarding Mr Pandji, there was an attempt at a meeting, but we have not yet received a complete report. We will convey it to colleagues in the next stage,” said the Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Pol Budi Hermanto, in Jakarta on Friday.

Previously, he said he would communicate with the investigators regarding the presence of the suspect with five of the complainants at Metro Jaya Police on Thursday (9/4).

“We are still asking the investigator friends about the presence of the suspect with five complainants; whether this constitutes an effort for mediation towards Restorative Justice. We will convey it later,” Budi stated.

As is known, comedian Pandji Pragiwaksono held a dialogue with the complainants who reported him to Metro Jaya Police regarding the case in the “Mens Rea” performance.

“We requested the Metro Jaya Police through the Directorate of Criminal Investigation to hold a kind of dialogue with the complainants. There were five complainants present, all attended, and the dialogue process was well facilitated by Metro Jaya Police, which had been prepared approximately two weeks in advance,” said Pandji Pragiwaksono’s legal representative, Haris Azhar, at Metro Jaya Police on Thursday (9/4).

“But we showed good faith that we wanted dialogue, to exchange thoughts, information, and views on what the background was for them to file a report with Metro Jaya Police,” Haris said.

In that dialogue, according to him, the complainants wanted an apology from Pandji. Then, Pandji was asked to repent to Allah SWT, not repeat his actions, and apologise to the public.

Haris added that if the dialogue is held again, his side would be pleased and even willing to visit the complainants’ locations for discussion.

“So, it was purely a real dialogue, I emphasise again. We seek the substance genuinely, with mutual exchange. We are not bothered by issues of stopping it, RJ (Restorative Justice), withdrawing the report, or continuing the case,” Haris stated.

Meanwhile, Pandji said the dialogue was something he had long wanted to do to directly hear the complainants’ grievances and provide explanations to them.

“I came assuming there might be a lot of debate, but it turned out to run coolly, ending with laughter,” Pandji revealed.
