Metro Jaya Police Hand Over Acid Attack Case on KontraS Activist to TNI Military Police Centre

Jakarta, VIVA – Metro Jaya Police have stated that the handling of the acid attack case against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus has now been handed over to the TNI Military Police Centre (Puspom). This was conveyed by the Director of General Criminal Investigation at Metro Jaya Police, Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, during a hearing with Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) on Tuesday, 31 March 2026. Iman explained that the police had conducted an investigation into the case since receiving the initial report. “After we received the report, we then carried out an investigation,” said Iman. Following that, the police deepened the investigation after receiving the report regarding the acid attack on Andrie Yunus. Iman explained that his side had found several facts that formed the basis for further handling of the case. Then, he said, the case had been handed over to Puspom TNI. “And from the results of that investigation, after we found facts from the investigation results, we can now report to the leadership that the matter has been handed over to Puspom TNI,” said Iman. It is known that four TNI soldiers were involved in the acid attack on the Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), Andrie Yunus. This was revealed by the Head of Puspom TNI, Major General (Mayjen) TNI Yusri Nuryanto. Yusri admitted that he had only received information regarding the alleged involvement of the four TNI soldiers on Wednesday morning, 18 March 2026. “So this morning, I received from the TNI Bais Denma, four people suspected of carrying out the assault against Mr Andrie Yunus,” said Yusri during a press conference on Wednesday, 18 March 2026. Yusri stated that the four TNI soldiers had already been secured. His side is also currently delving into the motive behind the acid attack on Andrie Yunus. “So we are also still investigating what the motive is from those four alleged perpetrators,” he said. Presidential Attention President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto stated that the acid attack case against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus is a serious criminal act classified as terrorism. He emphasised that the acid attack on Andrie Yunus must be thoroughly investigated to the masterminds behind the incident.
