Metro Jaya Police Foil Distribution of Etomidate Narcotics in Tangerang

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Metro Jaya Police’s Narcotics Directorate has foiled the distribution of narcotics, with a quantity of over one hundred cartridges containing etomidate, in the Tangerang region.

Chief of Unit 5, Sub-Directorate 3, Narcotics Directorate, Metro Jaya Police, AKP Edy Lestari, explained that the operation took place on Tuesday (13/5) at an apartment complex at around 4:30 PM.

“We have secured a man with the initials W (19) along with hundreds of cartridges containing etomidate,” he said in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday.

Edy explained that the operation began with information from the public regarding narcotics distribution activities in the apartment complex.

“After conducting an investigation, the Unit 5 team moved in and secured the suspect in the lobby of the apartment,” he said.

During an initial search, police found several cartridges containing etomidate stored in a paper bag and wrapped in bubble wrap with the word “fragile” written on it.

Following further investigation, police searched the apartment unit, which was allegedly used as a storage location for the illicit goods.

“From the second location, we found dozens more etomidate cartridges, bringing the total evidence seized to 183 cartridges containing etomidate, along with several packaging materials such as paper bags, watch boxes, tape, and writing utensils,” said Edy.

He added that the evidence and the suspect have been taken to the Metro Jaya Police Narcotics Directorate for further investigation.

Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, stated that combating narcotics is a shared responsibility.

“Even the smallest piece of information from the public is very useful for the police, starting from the immediate environment and surroundings, so that we can all care,” said Budi.

He also urged the public to immediately report any potential disturbances to public security and order through the Polri Call Center 110, which is active 24 hours a day.
