Metro Jaya Police Foil 3 Kilograms of Cannabis Trafficking in Central Jakarta

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Metro Jaya Regional Police Narcotics Directorate thwarted the distribution of cannabis weighing 3 kilograms in the Tanah Abang area, Central Jakarta.

“Two men identified by initials B (53) and T (49) were secured in the operation,” said AKP Edy Lestari, head of Unit 5, Sub-Directorate 3, Ditresnarkoba Polda Metro Jaya, in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.

He explained that the case was uncovered on Wednesday (4/3) at approximately 17:30 WIB at the Mustika Hotel, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta.

“The operation began following a community report about suspected narcotics transactions around the location. Subsequently, the investigative team acted quickly and arrested the two suspects inside the hotel room,” Edy said.

From the search, three large packages and one small package containing cannabis with a gross weight of 3,042 grams were found.

Edy urged the public to stay away from drugs as they are dangerous and detrimental to the nation’s successors.

“Currently, the two suspects and the evidence have been secured at Ditresnarkoba Polda Metro Jaya for further investigation,” said Edy.

Meanwhile, Public Relations Head of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, said drug eradication is a joint responsibility.

“Any information from the public, no matter how small, is very useful for the police, starting from the closest and surrounding environments for us to care together,” Budi stated.

He also asked residents to promptly report potential security and public order disturbances (kamtibmas) via the Polri Call Center 110, which operates 24 hours a day.
