Metro Jaya Police foil 2-kilogram cannabis trafficking in Jatinegara
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Directorate of Narcotics Investigation of the Metro Jaya Police thwarted the circulation of cannabis weighing a total of 2 kilograms in Cipinang Besar Selatan, Jatinegara, East Jakarta.
AKP Mokhammad Fatoni, Investigation Chief of Sub-Directorate 2, Sub-Directorate 3 of Ditresnarkoba Polda Metro Jaya, stated in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The seizure began from public information regarding suspected drug transactions around Jalan Cipinang Besar. Following the report, the on-scene operations team conducted surveillance at the location and subsequently arrested a man identified by the initials I.
After the arrest, a search of the suspect revealed four cannabis packages wrapped in brown tape, with a gross weight of 2 kilograms.
Police then conducted further development to a boarding house in the Cipinang Besar Selatan area. From that location, officers seized additional evidence including an electric scale, a mobile phone, brown tape, and a black bag.
The suspect and the evidence have been taken to the Ditresnarkoba office of the Metro Jaya Police for further examination.
Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, said tackling drugs is a joint responsibility. “Even the smallest information from communities is valuable to the police, starting from one’s immediate environment and surroundings so that everyone can contribute,” he added. He also urged residents to report potential security and public order disturbances via the Polri Call Center 110, which operates 24 hours a day.
