Jakarta — The Metro Jaya Police Department is providing facilities for residents who wish to travel to their hometowns during mudik to store their vehicles with the police.

“The Metro Jaya Police Chief is providing a service to the public whereby the Metro Jaya Police, through its precinct and district police units, will facilitate residents who wish to deposit their vehicles whilst undertaking mudik,” said Metro Jaya Police Public Relations Chief, Senior Police Commissioner Budi Hermanto, when met in Jakarta on Monday.

He emphasised that there would be no charges levied when residents deposit their vehicles at police precincts, district police stations, or the Metro Jaya Police headquarters.

Additionally, Budi issued an appeal to residents intending to take Eid leave to secure their house keys, switch off electrical appliances, and turn off liquefied petroleum gas cylinders.

“We are also issuing appeals, and the Metro Jaya Police, together with TNI components and local government, will conduct patrols of varying scales — small, medium, and large — through residential areas,” he said.

The Metro Jaya Police will conduct Operation Ketupat Jaya 2026 for a fortnight, from 13 March to 25 March, to ensure traffic safety during the celebration of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.

This was announced by Metro Jaya Police Traffic Director, Senior Police Commissioner Komarudin, during an inter-sectoral coordination meeting at the Metro Jaya Meeting Hall on Monday.

“We are collaborating various forces, of course, including infrastructure and facilities in support of the implementation of Operation Ketupat, which, God willing, will take place from 13 to 25 March,” he said.

Komarudin explained that during Operation Ketupat, more than 6,800 personnel — a combination of police, military, and relevant agencies — would be deployed across the entire jurisdiction of the Metro Jaya Police.

The number of personnel deployed was to provide security assurance and comfort during mudik activities, Eid al-Fitr celebrations, and the return journey.
