Metro Jaya Police Display CCTV Footage of Faces of Attackers Who Threw Sulphuric Acid on KontraS Activist
Metro Jaya Regional Police have showcased closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage that recorded the faces of the perpetrators who threw sulphuric acid at KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. The Director of General Criminal Investigation (Dirreskrimum) of Metro Jaya Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Iman Imannudin, assured that the images of the perpetrators are not the result of artificial intelligence (AI) manipulation.
“This is the result of footage obtained from CCTV. We emphasise to all colleagues that no changes or processing have been made, so we can take full responsibility for it. This is not the result of artificial intelligence,” said Iman at Metro Jaya Regional Police Headquarters, Jakarta, on Wednesday (18/3/2026), as reported by detikNews.
The footage of the executors shows them using a motorbike, wearing batik-patterned clothing and blue attire. Both were captured by CCTV along the route they took before and after the incident.
“This is purely taken from CCTV captured by surveillance cameras along the route travelled by the perpetrators, so it is not the result of artificial intelligence,” explained Iman.
Based on the displayed footage, the two are men, with the one in front driving the motorbike. Meanwhile, the one sitting at the back is the executor who threw the sulphuric acid at Andrie Yunus.
“This is the rear part, at the crime scene it can be seen throwing liquid at the victim,” added Iman.
Previously reported by detikBali, four members of the Indonesian National Army (TNI) who carried out the sulphuric acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus have been detained. The detention was carried out by the TNI Military Police Centre (Puspom).
